What pictures should I take after a car wreck?
Photograph vehicle damage, the entire accident scene, road conditions, traffic lights, stop signs, skid marks, debris, injuries, license plates, insurance cards, and witness vehicles. Try to get the cars in the pictures if possible.
Photos can preserve evidence that may disappear within minutes. Take wide-angle photos showing the full scene, then closer photos of each vehicle, impact points, airbags, seatbelts, broken glass, fluid leaks, skid marks, lane markings, traffic signals, signs, construction zones, potholes, and weather conditions. If you are injured, photograph bruising, cuts, swelling, casts, braces, and medical devices over time. Insurance companies often argue that a crash was “minor” based on repair photos alone. Good scene photos can help prove how the collision happened and why the injuries are consistent with the wreck.
